John Holland Project Expansion

What We Announced in July 2020.

In July 2020 we shared that the ComplyFlow platform had been selected for rollout across another five John Holland projects throughout New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

The reason given at the time was the one head contractors usually give: our end-to-end contractor management portal would continue to give transparency of compliance and safety at head office level, across multiple national projects.

That is the whole of the announcement. We have published nothing further about this customer, and nothing below is a claim about them.

How Adding a Project Works in ComplyFlow.

What a head contractor is really buying when it adds a project to an existing system is the sixth, seventh and eighth project being cheaper to start than the first.

Each project is a site. Staff permissions can be applied either across the whole organisation or only to the sites a person is assigned to, and the Help Centre recommends site-level permissions in most circumstances, to keep data separated across an account.¹ That is what stops a new project pulling every record in the business into view of everyone working on it.

Staff also start with no security access by default, and permissions are added once a person has been trained for the task they are doing. Security defaults let a permission set for a role, such as a safety manager, be applied to a cohort of users rather than configured one person at a time.¹ A rollout across five projects is a configuration exercise rather than five implementations, and that distinction is the whole economics of it.

The data residency question comes up in the same conversation at head office. Our Help Centre states that all ComplyFlow data is securely hosted within Australia.²

Design Who Sees What Before You Migrate a Project.

If you are consolidating several projects onto one compliance system, the thing to design first is who sees what, because it is far harder to unpick afterwards than to set up at the start.
